Wabaunsee High School recently completed the
five year cycle for accreditation though the North Central
Accreditation Association. The staff selected to target
problem solving, reading, and writing at the beginning of the
accrediting process. Over the past five years the staff has
compiled data on a number of assessments given to students,
monitored various strategies used in classrooms, the level of
achievement, and new innovations utilized by the school. This
data was compiled into a document that was reviewed by the visiting
team. Each of the three target areas had a team comprised of
staff members that presented to the visiting NCA members. We
were pleased to find at the end of the day a favorable report was
submitted to the state and national North Central Accreditation
Associations that recommended full accreditation with no
sanctions. The staff is to be commended for a great job over
the five year cycle. We will use the rest of this school year
to identify our new target areas and write a new plan for the next
five year accreditation cycle.
