The Special Services Cooperative of Wamego has policies and procedures in effect to ensure that all children with exceptionalities (those who have disabilities and those who are gifted) and who are in need of special education and related services are identified, located, and evaluated. This includes children who attend public or private schools, are home schooled, are highly mobile including migrant and homeless, or are wards of the State. Children in need of special education services are identified as early as possible, and as soon as possible after the concern is noted. Child Find is accomplished for children younger than five years of age through individual and group screening events. For grades K-21, Child Find is conducted through either general education intervention (GEI) or student improvement teams (SIT).
